H.E. the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium to Rwanda paid a courtesy call on Hon. Minister Rwanyindo

On  Tuesday 03rd April, 2018, H.E. Benoit RYELANDT, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium to Rwanda, paid a courtesy call on Hon. RWANYINDO KAYIRANGWA Fanfan, Minister of Public Service and Labour 
Belgian Ambassador was received by Hon. RWANYINDO KAYIRANGWA Fanfan, Minister of Public Service and Labour  together with Gaspard MUSONERA, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Public Service and Labour (MIFOTRA) , Emmanuel HATEGEKA,  Chief Operating Officer in Rwanda Development Board (RDB) and other Senior Officials from MIFOTRA and RDB.
Discussions were centered on implications of transferring Capacity Development and Employment Services Board (CESB) to Rwanda development Board (RDB) and the findings of Labour Forcey Survey and its policy implications.
H.E. RYELANDT was briefed that CESB was transferred to RDB to enable effective and efficient coordination, harmonization and ensure synergies of skills development especially rare/niche skills for critical sectors under National Strategy for Transformation.
It was also mentioned that the Labour Force Survey was established in 2016 in order to produce labour statistics to inform policy actions in matters related to employment promotion and labour governance. 
Ambassador of Belgium appreciated a warm welcome received and good discussions held during the meeting. 
Rwanda and Belgium have long bilateral relationships. Rwanda and Belgium signed a convention in May 2004 managed through Indicative Cooperation Program (ICP). The current ICP signed in 2011 is being implemented in health and energy sectors. Additional to that, trade between Rwanda and Belgium has kept growing over the last years. 
Minister RWANYINDO KAYIRANGWA Fanfan thanked Ambassador Benoit RYELANDT for the visit and good cooperation between Rwanda and the Kingdom of Belgium.
H.E. Benoit RYELANDT reiterated the need to keep working together and have further discussions with all relevant institutions with a view to cooperating further in employment promotion including covering new sectors under the ICP, such as agriculture. 
H.E. Benoit RYELANDT was appointed Ambassador of Belgium to Rwanda in October, 2017. Prior to his nomination, he worked in Nigeria, Japan, Italy, Taiwan and Vietnam.
